World in Harmony | 2019 George Enescu International Festival
World in Harmony takes us backstage at the 2019 George Enescu International Festival, a leading classical music festival that, from its first edition in 1958, has regularly attracted the biggest names in classical music to come together from all over the world in Bucharest. The 2019’s edition was the largest so far – presenting 84 concerts and 2,500 world-class artists from over 50 countries, over 23 days – and the first to unfold internationally in cities aside from Bucharest, including Berlin, Florence, Liège, Toronto, and Montreal.
The documentary captures insights from Joyce DiDonato, Mitsuko Uchida, Evgeny Kissin, Vladimir Jurowski, Vasily Petrenko, Fabio Luisi, Elisabeth Leonskaja, Yuja Wang, and more of today’s most important musicians while they discuss George Enescu’s cultural heritage and the Enescu Festival’s commitment to the ideal vision of music and education as forces for unity, harmony, healing, and peace. Featuring the experience of a great classical music Festival in the last year wherein an edition of such scale and communion was possible worldwide, given the difficult times we live in, the film scenes are emotionally charged by the realization, in retrospect, of their uniqueness and unrepeatability.
